Emergency Medical Assistance Signing Ceremony (Saudia Arabia-China)

In order to assist the republic of China on the epidemic event, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia instructed the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to provide emergency medical assistance to China to fight the novel coronavirus. Jafron DX-10 blood purification machine and HA330 Hemoperfusion cartridge were included in the list of aided materials. The above video is the aiding ceremony on the evening of February 13. Mr. Chen Weiqing, Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Mr. Ahmed representative of Jafron attended the signing ceremony.

Recently, an epidemic with 2019-nCoV has occurred in China. On Jan 31, 2020, the WHO declared the outbreak to be a public health emergency of international concern. From the current situation, most patients have a good prognosis, and a few patients develop critically illness. Critically illness rapidly develop into respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, MODS and the main presumed cause is the presence of cytokine storm in these kinds of patients.  Prof. Li Lanjuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering declared that the artificial liver support (Jafron DX-10, and DPMAS system can be used in this field) has played a very important role in the management procedures for those patients. Prof. Claudio Ronco and  Jean Louis Vincent reported that sepsis-like syndrome might occur frequently due to the virus itself or to a superimposed bacterial infection and in this case, since pharmacological approaches have shown poor results, new extracorporeal organ support therapies including haemoadsorption and haemoperfusion, with new sorbent cartridges designed to remove cytokines and other circulating mediators, should be considered. According to the previous studies, the HA330 cartridge shows a significant removal rate of the cytokines levels and thus may play key role in the overall outcome for patients with novel coronavirus superimposed by bacterial infection.
